Cricket size chart
Match the size to your animal.
Match the cricket to your dragon: medium crickets for juveniles, adult crickets for adult bearded dragons.
For juvenile bearded dragons, medium crickets (about 1/2 in) are our most requested size. Adult bearded dragons do well with adult crickets (about 3/4 to 1 in). The simple rule for any animal: no cricket longer than the space between your dragon's eyes.
What your crickets eat is what your dragon eats, so feed your crickets well before feeding time (gut-loading): greens, carrot, oats or cricket food. Dusting with calcium before feeding is common for reptiles; we sell calcium + D3 powder and gut-load food.
| Size | Age | Length | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Medium | ~3–4 wk | ~1/2 in | Most requested size: juvenile bearded dragons, leopard geckos |
| Large | ~5–6 wk | ~3/4 in | Adult leopard geckos, young chameleons |
| Adult | 6–7+ wk | ~3/4–1 in | Adult bearded dragons, monitors, tarantulas |
Medium crickets, about 1/2 inch, are our most requested size for juvenile bearded dragons. Always keep them no longer than the space between your dragon's eyes.
Adult crickets, about 3/4 to 1 inch, suit adult bearded dragons.
Yes. House crickets are the classic bearded dragon feeder: active enough to trigger hunting, and easy to gut-load and dust with calcium.
