The classic feeder cricket

House crickets are the brown feeder most keepers grew up with. They're nutritious, they grow quickly and they come in every size we sell, from pinhead hatchlings to full adults. House crickets complete their life cycle in about 57 days at 86–90°F.

House crickets are the only species we raise, so every order is consistent. Prices drop as quantities go up: see the shop for current pricing.

The eye-gap rule: never feed a cricket longer than the space between your animal's eyes. Too-large feeders can cause choking and impaction. Remove uneaten crickets after 15 minutes so they don't bite a sleeping pet.

Frequently asked questions

Why house crickets?

House crickets (Acheta domesticus) are the classic feeder: active, nutritious and easy to gut-load. They're the only species we raise, so every order is consistent.

What size crickets should I buy?

Offer crickets no longer than the space between your animal's eyes. Medium (about 1/2 in) is our most requested size for juvenile bearded dragons and leopard geckos; see the size chart for every size.

When do live crickets ship?

Orders ship Monday through Wednesday, weather permitting, in ventilated boxes with egg crate, food and moisture for the trip. Tracking is sent by text or email the day your order leaves.

What if the crickets arrive dead?

Our live arrival guarantee covers you: text or email a photo of the unopened box within 2 hours of delivery and we'll reship or refund. Small losses in transit (under about 10%) are normal and covered by the extra crickets we pack.
